Re: What Should I Pay???

i didn't catch the "original owner" part before. that's worth a sevl hundred $ premium to me right there. in those circumstances, i'd do the exact opposite of Gundog's approach....like Djpeters says, switch the guy on and let him run, you'll get all kinds of useful info. and he might even be able to answer your Qs about what's been done to the boat. even after the sale if you buy it.

Offer him $5000 and get the history. Maybe he'll help replace the deck!

Every original owner of something will give his bias opinion plus an extra load of crap about that belonging. Bottom line, Tins on the left coast are over priced.

Re: What Should I Pay???

Well, I went by today with a friend to look at the boat. It is being sold by the marina that has always taken care of it for the owners. I found out that it is a 1969. It was in the water because I am going out in it with the wife tomorrow to see how it runs. Anyway, we got to go on the boat and check out a few things; the floor seems solid ( I am 200 lbs and it seemed fine), the engine looks like it has been taken care of, and the rest looks good, did not see any dents or things like that and the upholstery looks good.

So tomorrow is the big day. Looking forward to it. Let you know more Sunday.

Re: What Should I Pay???

Hey Guys,

My wife and I went to look and take a ride in the boat yesterday. It seems to run pretty good. Almost just bump the starter and it started; it wasn't warmed up yet either. It ran good, nice and smooth.

I was curious if 25 to 30 mph is about right for that boat; 30 for flat out. 120 mercruiser with 3 people on board at 4100 feet elevation.

All in all it is a nice boat , pretty much a turn-key operation. Just have to make sure the wife likes it.

I forgot the camera, so if I buy it I will put up pics of it.

At 25 -30 MPH did you get a glance at the tack for the RPM of the motor? need to know that to determin for top speed as well as rpm. running 25-30 mph is a good thing. What with fuel prices you would not want to run much more than 25 anyway., Boat sounds like it may have a new owner. Getting one ready to use and turn key is a good deal for you.
