What should it cost to replace cracked block?

How much should it cost me to have my engine replaced? The block is cracked but the manifolds are fine. Its a 1992 mercruiser 4.3 LX <br />I just spent $1800 on the outdrive and a new manifold just to find out the block also had a crack. The boat is only worth about $7500 in good condition. Not sure what to do.

I'm in the process of replacing a 5.0 with a 5.7 long block. It's running around $4k for parts and labor with my mechanic doing the work.

depends on where ya go. most shops down here in pueblo are around 100.00 an hour for the labor plus a new motor. i work on boats in my garage and i think the last 4.3 i did was around 3000.00. by the way, where in colo are you?

I'm in Parker. A big dealer up here in south Denver said it would be $4500 to $6000. Seemed kinda high to me.<br /><br />If I'm putting in a new motor would it be the same price to upgrade the power? Maybe to a 5.0 or something.
