Hello,
I just switched my 80 hp merc from my 15' starcraft to my 16' lucraft. The previous owner had a 13 1/4 x 17p prop on the Starcraft set up. Both boats are a v hull and the lucraft is a foot longer and 6" wider than the Starcraft. The prop is pretty beat and I would like to replace it. Should I stay with the same size and pitch? Both boats seem to plane out good and I got about 40mph top speed on starcraft and 37 on new lucraft set up.

Thanks in advance for any info,
Jonny

Re: What size and pitch prop?

Normally you would choose a prop pitch by max RPM. So load the boat with a normal load and rev her all the way up. You are trying to achive about 5500RPM at full throttle. Adjust the pitch up or down to get there. 400 RPM is about the difference in a 2" pitch change.
