Re: what size and year is my engine?
Ok ill try to get a picture up today. i thought with the model starting off with 50 that it's a 50hp from the reseach i have done all other evinrude's with model numbers starting with 50 were 50hp am i wrong?
Yes, a model number beginning with a 50 would normally be a 50hp.
BUT, the first halfway modern 50hp was in 1958, was model #50012, and did not use a pressurized tank.
A model number 50172 is close, but that was from 1971 and certainly did not use a pressure tank and had 2 carbs
So there is a problem here.
Either it doesn't use a pressure tank, or it is not a 50.
The transom bracket may have been changed at some point.
There may be a round plug on the power head that has a model number stamped on it.
