I have a 1998 Johnson 50HP. I need to replace the battery. I bught the boat used and it currently has a marine battery 625 cranking amps. I can't find anywhere telling me if this is the correct size for starting the engine. Can anyone help?
I'm not sure if there is a chart or recommendation for battery size on outboards. Maybe somebody will come up with one. Are you running any electronics or other loads on the battery? 625A is more than enough for the outboard. If you replace it with the same size, you will be fine. (without other large loads on the battery)
