Is there no plate giving capacities, etc. on the boat?<br /><br />I would expect a max HP limit to be about 10 to 15 hp. <br /><br />A 9.9 would be a good engine for that boat.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

If you can list the demensions I can give you a best guess based an present day boats.<br /> length,deepest part,width,width at transom.<br /> transom height. and weight if possible.

If it is a jon boat ( flat bottom ) and not a v bottom, I would say 5-8 hp. That is what most are rated for, unless it is one of those really wide ones.

I think I'd go with the 9.9 too. It should push the boat OK and is legal on most HP restricted lakes. Also, in the event you ever decide to sell it, it's a very popular size motor.
