What size outboard,make is best for me?

I just bought a 12 ft.sears V-hull boat and would like to know if a 6hp, or 8hp out board is best to use. I will be taking the boat out in back bays and calmer waters. Also what is the weight limit for this size boat. I cannot find anything on the boat. Thanks

How old is the boat,& is there any Numbers on it anyplace? What make is the boat? You might have to contact Sears or the Mfr. to get info.

I dont know if this will help you or not I run a 15hp on my 14ft jon boat well i did until motor troubles but any way i am thinking about a 9.9 i hear it,s the same as far as hp but you need to contact the park and wildlife dept they can probaly help you?
