What size trolling motor for my Wellcraft Airslot 165

How much thrust am I likely to need for my boat? I know "more is better" but what can I get by with? The lake I will use it in 90+% of the time has no current to speak of.

I'm pretty sure I will have to use a bow mounted one, as I do not believe there is room on my transom next to the outboard.

Suggestions/advice?

45, 50 or 55#. In some ways bigger is not only better from a performance standpoint, but they can provide longer run time. Motors like the MinnKota Power Drive V2 are very efficient motors at slower speed settings than the common 5 speed non-digital motors. At full speed it doesn't make any difference, both types of motors will consume the same amount of current. So the idea is, if you buy a smaller and cheaper motor that must run at a higher speed setting than a more powerful digital motor at a slower speed setting, the bigger motor will actually run longer on a charge than the smaller motor. I've always put 50 or 55 PowerDrives on my 16 - 18 foot boats and have never been sorry. I have a 55 PD on my pontoon.

I have a 55# v2 on front of my 14' jon boat, I started with a 45#, but I should have listened to the more experienced, you'll never wish you bought a smaller motor, but you will wish you had a bigger one at some point. The lakes I fish don't have any current either, but they do have wind.
