What spark plugs do you use???

Everyone must have a favorite spark plug.

Can you tell me the best to buy and why?

My motor is a 1982 Evinrude 200 V6.

Your best bet is to use the plugs that the motor was designed with, or the recommended (superseding) replacements.

You can find both at the the BRP store by looking up your motor, navigating to the cylinder and crankcase diagram, and clicking the number associated with your spark plug.

Once you have the original OEM spark plug up, click the magnifying glass for the superseding plugs.

OMC engines have used Champion plugs forever, and I just stick with those. Doing that, I am more confident that I am in the proper heat range.

You should use the plug that Evinrude calls for in your motor.

Plugs for 2 stroke engines are different that ones for 4 strokes so the Super irridium platinum plugs will work great in your truck but not your outboard.

Champion JC4s are what my motor calls for and that is all I use.

You can actually damage the engine by not using the correct plug with the right heat range.

The surface gap plug is what the engine was built around, designed for and recommended. In addition to BRP/OMC, see: http://www.boatsetup.com/SparkPlugChart.pdf

Noone but the respondent has recommended the QL77JC4 for your 1982 200HP engine.

Ok my boat uses

200 1976 - 1983 UL77V or QL16V Surface Gap

So surface gap plugs don't need to be gapped?

No, they are not adjustable.
