what spark plugs for 57 35hp evinrude

What spark plugs do I need for my 1957 35hp evinrude bigtwin? when I got this motor from my brother-in-law he has 2 diffrent kinds and brands. I would like to know whats the best for this motor.......... thanks Tony

Champion J6C at .030" is the listed plug.

It's an extremely common plug used on most early engines.

Depends on which list you look at.

If you troll or idle a lot the J6C at .030" works well, but for more cruising and high speed operation the J4C at .030" works better. I have gotten good results with J4Cs gapped at .040" for trolling.
