I need a new starter for my 87 60 horse. I saw in the boat store 2 different starters an Arco & Seirra. Besides the price is there any difference?

Why do you think you need a new starter, CC?

Four out of five starters that are replaced aren't bad at all.

You may have a much simpler problem. Please tell us how you determined that you need a new starter.

I've never seen a diff, just 2 manufacturers. i usually just get the Sierra as it's usually the easiest to find. But I've Never had a problem with either.

Re: What Starter Is Better

i basically have 2 problems with my starter the first is while cranking the engine the shaft disengages (drops down) from the fly wheel and just spins, it will only usually crank the fly while for like 5 seconds before it drops down. I lubed the shaft but hasn't helped. The second problem is when turning the key the starter will make clicking noises and the drive gear barely turns, if I release the key and go spin the gear a few times it then usually will work.
