OK I purchased a 115 HP motor off of a guy real cheap but a condition of the the deal is I had to clean out these Johnson/Evinrude lower units too. Im thinking I could sell some of them or trade them for parts that I do need for my project on maybe craigs list or something. Researching what a drive is without the motor is not EZ! I went all over google images etc but its hard to tell. Anyone want to take a crack at these?

The first Mystery Lower has a 13 spline prop shaft. Drive shaft 22" approx. It is marked with the numbers 328640 D3 http://yfrog.com/55img0588jI also have another one just like it marked 323540

The next mystery drive is Here marked 187448 01 DX
has 15 spline Drive shaft and its shaft is approx 27 1/4"

Next marked only 587 15 Spline prop shaft Drive shaft approx 26 1/2

Next makred 185337 11T D4 Prop has 13 splines and drive shaft is 21 1/4" approx. http://img185.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0599k.jpg

I want to make very clear that I am not here to try to sell any of this stuff or that I even want to. I only want help to Identify it. If anyone can shed light on how to Identify these it would be appreciated.

The last two pics look the same?

Those numbers are most likely either old part numbers or just casting numbers.

Your best clues will be spline count, vs hub diameter, and mating surface shape.

The 13 spline units are probably 60 hp or smaller? my 55 hp and 60 hp motors use a 13 spline shaft. You may also have a three cylinder lower in there too?
That one looks like a much later lower unit, in the 90's?

Gearcases with 13 spline propshafts and 4 1/4" housings are for 3 and 4 cylinder outboard motors. 15 spline shafts are in 4 3/4" gearcases for V6 and V8 outboards.

OK so the 3 smaller units look to be V4's as they are 13 spline 4 1/4 " housings. I taped a pencil to the end of the prop and the end of the input shaft. for all three drives 2 full turns on the input shaft gives me 1 full turn on the prop shaft. approx 2:1 ratio. Does that sound about right?
