WHAT THE! I lost my anode

I went on a fishing trip this past weekend to Lewisville Lake. To make a long story short: dead starting battery, got lost, didn't catch any fish, didn't even get any bites, got stuck on ramp with motor down

And last but not least, when I was getting the boat ready to take the trip home I realised that I had lost my anode. I have an '89 dt200 Suzuki. I am still struggling to figure out how in the world I lost my trim tab/anode. I jsut got this boat about 2 weeks ago and I guess the guy before me did not have it tightend properly or "something." I just ordered one from here, I will make sure that the next one is tightened correctly.

Sounds like a good shake-down cruise :D Might want to keep the ramp in sight next trip :p

it sounds like you hae a pretty crappy day to say the least...i feel for you though..we've all had those days before. thats weird though, losing an anode/trim tab. the guy who installed it must have not known what he was doing. oh well, hopefully your next outing will be a lot better. :D

Check your prop for dings. I can't see any way an anode could fall off and not hit the prop at least once unless you were accelerating when it happened.
Eric

kinda odd to lose the trim tab anode on that motor but it happens. use loc-tite 671 on the threads. on the 3.1 yams its actually quite common and yes they can fall off and never touch the prop.

Use loc-tite, I had a buddy w/ a '87 200 zucinni, & he lost 1 or 2 a year 'till I loc-tited it. Good Luck, Joe

Thanks for the advice guys. I am guessing its becuase of the rough idling the motor does, which I've read here is very common for these motors. I will make sure to use the lok-tite.

89 DT 200 should be smooth if all is right. that motor actually idled very well for a big 6 in 89.

Last time I went out my trailer lights stopped working, the engine seized, the distributor seized, and my lower unit took a dump. All completely unrelated, catastrophic problems.

Dontcha love boating? ;)

Just remember that a bad day fishing beats a good day at the office. :D

With gas prices climing through the roof I don't know if that is true any more. I am going to stay local so that the "bad day fish..." comment will remain true. :D
