What To Build...or Buy?????

Need something to put my 2hp evinrude to flush and or run in and do repairs if needed..Thinking of building a box then lining it with fiberglass resin but thats gotta add up..any Ideas? need something to hold water and engine..its only 20 lbs or so.Maybe even a metal garbage pail???

I have used 55gal drums for that purpose with engines up to 18HP, pbuzz.

For a 2hp I don't think you even need a mounting board. Just clamp a 2"X6" to the lip.

I think a metal garbage can would do for 2 HP.

We have made a handy little bracket for a 55 gallon drum. Basically we cut a piece of 2 by 4 to the same curve as the drum with the band saw. Put one piece on the inside of the drum, and one on the outside, and clamp it one with the motor, or even run a couple 1/4" carriage bolts on the sides to hold it.

But, our Evinrude 4 deluxe hangs on a "granny stand" (aluminum walker). A rubbermaid tote fits dang near perfect between the legs, and space it up the height of the furniture dolly (to heavy to move a full tote of water) it is the perfect height. As long as we don't throttle up too much, that will contain all the water.

A large plastic garbage can does just fine for these smaller ones as well.

I bought one of those heavy duty Rubbermaid 35 gallon trash cans and bolted a 2x6 to it. I also installed a drain for a cooler (any hardware store) to make it easy to drain. I've had everything from a 3hp Eska to a 35 hp Johnson running in that. The little guys get clamped to the can...the big ones get the can shoved under them while on the transom.

For the tiddler engines, you can even run them in gear...up to about 6 hp...without blowing the water out.

Build a box out of wood and then line it with a heavy duty garbage bag.
