Hi

Im going to buy a Bayliner Capri 1600 from 1990 and everything seems to be ok with this boat, well it?s ~20 years old and there is some marks from regular use!

What i want from you in this forum!:
Is there some hidden "known" problems i need to check?
Things that are good to know as a owner of a beautiful American small dc!
(Here in Sweden are 99% of all boats in this size ugly fishingboats:))

The engine is a 85Hp Suzuki and i think this is a good size for this boat!?

Re: What to check before i buy! Capri 1600 BR -90

greetings from USA,

the hidden known problem is rot and weakness. when you go to check the deck gave a good push with your toes against all areas, around ski lockers, by the aft seats, etc. should be no spring or give. look at the transom for signs of cracks or weakness, grab the skeg and give her a yank. does the transom bend like pegboard? if it does, u got work and worries. also check the keel for major rub and deep gouges. the steering should be easy to turn, the tilt/trim should lift the o/b and hold. if it drifts down more work and worries. basic items like upholstrey should not be to awful weathered. and have a go on the lake if possible. when back on land, pull the plug and see how much water comes out the drain. to much prolly means your killing the stringers so be watchful.

anyway, stuff like that dood, so good luck!
