Call Ryan T. He's got experiance with noisy neighbors. <br /><br /><br />The cats are a non isuue, the people just have to deal with it. The muffler might have a solution. Many states here have adopted Californias stance on spark arrestors. Maybe so in BC also. If the muffler is gone then so is the spark arrestor. Problem solved. Play himat his own gaems but stay in the law. I had a neighbor that knew I worked nights. He started to mow his grass twice a week and would do it about 45 minutes after I got home, knowing this is when I was trying to sleep. After 2 months of this I would wait till my day off to mow my grass. I'd start at about 11:45 at night. He didn't like it at all. Called the cops on me. I explained since it was July and hot and all thats when I liked to cut, and I only was off two days a week so I was limited to the days I could do it. They knew I was bs'ing them so I Just told them the truth. They had a great laugh and told me to call them next time he mowed his. Two days later I called. They give him a warning same as they had done me. Following day he started mowing again. Ticket time this go round. He was pissed off but he quit mowing when I was trying to sleep. Just to be fair I had discussed this problem with him several times and he basiclly said s crew you. I played his game and won, legally too.

Last time I had to deal with idiot neighbors...I "accidently" spilled a box of roofing nails all over my own driveway. It's a long story, but the b**** next door called the police after she got two flat tires, I had a good laugh with the cops and they went over to tell her she's not allowed to trespass on my driveway. <br /><br />My point is there are plenty of things you can do which are legal and morally right - while at the same time causing a great deal of pain and anguish to the one you don't like. Especially when he's probably commiting a crime or two and the entire neighborhood is on YOUR side.<br /><br />Yeah, asking nicely and giving him presents is great, but in the real world that usually doesn't work. If it did we wouldn't have these things called wars. You can try to be nice first, and when that doesn't work your other choice is to play dirty or move.

I said "IF" he is breaking the law. Running the weed eater without a muffler MAY be against the law if the city/town has a noise ordinance.

After reading my post concerning the offending cats, my better-half sided with JB, as per usual.<br />At least I wasn't zapped this time. We have two cats, as well as Taz, the wonder-dog. Don't wish any harm to them. But we have been living next to our neighbors for 16 yrs. They tolerate the cats. We suggest buying your neighbor a copy of James Herriots', "All Creatures Great And Small". He will grow to love the cats...

Until recently I've owned hotrods. Yeah, expensive ones with nice shiny paint. Many times I've had cat prints on them but never would I have started trapping them or poisoning them. JB, there's a world of difference between your country surroundings and our little community. Our cats have name tags with phone numbers and such. This guy is just being a jack-a$$ plain and simple.

Same around here. Outdoor cats are the norm, indoor cats are unusual. It's something you know you're going to deal with when you move into a neighborhood like that. You have to treat them the same as your neighbors kids...I hate it when they're out screaming and crying too, but I don't trap them!<br /><br />As far as being a responsible pet owner is concerned, I think an outdoor cat is a happier cat anyway...

The weed whacker will noy run maney hrs without controlled outflow it will burn up.<br />if a cat climbs on your screen door and rips it the owner is liable IF THEY CLAIM THE CAT. <br />out side of the city limits its fair game if you own a pet and want to keep it, keep it in your yard or it will never be seen again. rules of the outback.

Well, I hate cats, and hate when they crap in my boat. You say that there is nothing in his lawn that a cat would crap on, but tell me what it is in my boat that makes them poop there? So I havent a problem with whatever he does with the cats. :duckingcatloverflames:<br /><br />No since in asking him to muffle his weed eater, he wont do it anyway. Check the noise laws and go after it that way, if he is doing something illegal. As for him speeding, a well kicked basket ball does wonders for speeding bikers and cars.

The easiest solution is obvious; the pet owners need to take responsibility for their pet. I don't know exactly where this goes, but we had a neighbor who let his dog run all over the neighborhood all the time. He would show up on my deck and look into the house and get my dog all fired up and barking. This happened a couple of times a week for months. It wasn't a bad dog, but just a pain.<br /><br />It stopped by one saturday morning around 7am and I was still asleep. I simply wrote a note (from the dogs perspective) notifying us this would be his last visit because his owner was going to be responsible for him and not let him run around the neighborhood messing with eveyone's lives. I attached it to his collar and sent him on his way. That was the last time I have seen that dog. No fights or arguements, he took responsibility and the dog is now not roaming the streets buggin people. I was new in the hood so I didn't know who's dog it was, I now do. <br /><br />I agree that if people let their cat become everyone else's responsibility this is one way for him to handle it. But the whole motorcycle and string trimmer thing is just wrong. If you are his direct neighbor tell him he is getting on your last nerve. If you were the cats owner tell him that you solved that problem otherwise if he is trying to send a message, he is sending it to the wrong person. First time nice, second time sarcastic, third time annoyed, after that take whatever avenue you find appropriate. If he is downwind how about a nice pile of dog crap as close to his property as possible. Build on it if the problem persists. A gift that keeps on giving.

Dont leash laws in most cities apply to cats also? <br /><br />We have always had indoor cats, a few years ago, my wife started letting her favorite tom cat out in the back yard. He would get out and visit with the other cats and picked up some of their habits, like getting into trash and tearing stuff up. He got into something he shouldnt have and died a really painful death. To this day, I say it was our fault for letting him out.<br /><br />I am sure your city has noise restrictions. Running a weedeater without a muffler probably would get him cited. Try contacting code enforcement to see.

No leash laws governing cats in most cities that I am aware of.Down here in Corpus ,years ago,the stray cat issue had got so overwhelming that the animal control dept couldn't handle all of the complaints.So they constructed a new ordinance to not only relieve them of the responsibility ,but to appease the cat owners.Cats are now considered "free natured animals" by definition of the animal control board.Whatever that means.The same animal control dept will still provide any resident with a trap to catch nuisance cats and turn them over to animal control.Within 24 hours the cats are put down.<br /><br />Ironically ,there was a story on Texas cable news just yesterday about the stray and unwanted pet epidemic in San Antonio.The animal control shelter will be closed to any further new arrivals for several days until they can vacate additional pens.The head of SA animal control stated that the city has to euthanize more than 45,000 dogs and cats each year.He also stated that most of it is due to irresponsible pets owners.Duh...

As an animal lover I keep my dog and cat on my own property and do not expect someone else to deal with them. Those of you who think it is alright to let a cat run loose in the city are wrong, they kill birds and squirrels and leave fur and body parts in the yard for a dog to eat. I do not condone poisoning any animal but if you want to live in the city, keep your pets in your own yard!

What was this person doing in your driveway on a regular basis anyways? I really can't see a reason to be in someone else's driveway.
