What to do? Dropped motor in saltwater

Was trying to put my new (to me) 9.9 Johnson with electric start on the transom in the water. Secured the motor to the boat in case I dropped it overboard. I partially did. Had the stern end (with plugs, starter, etc.) in the salt less than a minute. Raced home with it and took the cover off and hosed it all down with fresh water. Then I toweled it as dry as I could and WD-40'd everywhere I could spray it and fired up the motor and ran it for about 10 minutes. Is there anything else I can do now?

Should be basically OK. Run it as much as possible, couple hours if you can. As long as the carb didn't go under the water probably didn't get inside. If you think water did get in thru the carb then add a little bit of oil to the gas and let it run. probably didn't if it started right away.

Sounds like you are pretty lucky. If it ran and you washed it all down, I think you are good.
