What to do with a brother like this?

Many of you know that I am leaving for Ghana for almost 6 weeks very soon. One of my brothers came to me the other day and said he would need my boat while I was gone. HUH? WHY? He has Jet Fleas, pontoons, an old Reinell cuddy, why would he need my bass boat when he doesn't even fish????

His answer - he just replaced the motor on one of his pontoons, and his "old motor" is the same as mine, only 6 years newer, with less hours on it, and it runs a little better. Okay, why? Well, a friend of his wanted to buy a Johnny 88 SPL and my brother thought he would sell him my older one and GIVE me the newer one!

Yep, I got a pretty nice brother - think I will keep him (for now anyway - till he does something stupid that makes me want to kill him - but that's what being a brother is all about, right? HA!).

I was certain you were going to say he wanted to borrow your motor!

Oh good Aspeck! I won't have to suggest to 'slay him' after all. You had me worried for a minute. ;) :D

We (our churches) built a Training Centre there for Biblical and Vocational Training. I am going to check over the place and give the couple that are running it a break ...

Just heard from my wife - boat is back in the garage - she doesn't know when brother brought it back ... but it is there. Also has no idea what is on the back of it ... guess I will see on Tuesday when I get home!

I bet you can't wait to get home to check out that new motor.

What are you going to do first, check out the boat or eat that great bowl of peanut soup your wife will have cooked for you. :D

Unfortunately I have no brothers, my 2 brothers in law have the mechanical aptitude of a fruit bat and would not know which end the outboard should go on. I do have a Sister but she lives a few thousand miles away.
Hope all went well in Ghana.

Good Deal Aspeck! Sure wish my brother was a boater. All he wants to do is get me into one of his dwarf cars. Going is circles is like having a big boat in a pool,,,,,,,,,,,,,your not going anywhere!

Richard, you are so bad! Guess what I had for lunch today! YEP! I finished it off! That should be it for a while - unless they feed it to me on the plane!

And you are right, check out the motor first since I park in front of it ...

I hope he didn't mount your new motor upside down as a practical joke.

Re: What to do with a brother like this?

Well, the motor is on and the right way! I need to look at the model number, but I think it is a 1998 88SPL, and he also put a trim guage on it, a new stainless steel prop (the one on the old engine was thoroughly chewed up and I needed to get a new one), and he put new carpet in the boat! I needed new carpet, but because we use it for hunting a good bit, hated to spend the $ on new carpet to get it bloody. Well, he went ahead and put new carpet in the boat (red to hide the blood stains :D ) .

I saw bro for a few minutes last night when I got home - but had not seen the boat yet. I told him I heard it was in the garage and how much did I own him. He just smiled and said, "I haven't decided yet." Now, to know my bro would let you know that is his way of telling you, "Shut up and don't ask - it is a gift and I have no intention of giving you a bill."

Yep, it was a very pleasant welcome home - I need to thank bro properly tonight when I see him ...
