What to do with cables on a wall mount TV

As mentioned in another thread we recently installed a flat screen TV on an interior wall in our basement (wood frame sheeted with dry wall). I am wondering the what the best way is to hide the HDMI and power cables. I was thinking of using a hole saw to drill holes behind the TV and down low behind the coffee table where the DVD player and the satellite receiver sit (between studs of course). Is there any fittings one can purchase to line the opening with, similar to the ones found on computer desks.

Thanks!

I believe Radio Shack sells wall outlets for cable, etc. They used to, anyway. I'd do exactly as you said and then install the outlets as the covering.

You can get those outlets at Lowes or Home Depot too.

you can just get a low voltage new work box. Then a plain faceplate and just drill a hole in it.
On a side note, running an extension cord is not in compliance with nec code. If that matters to you at all.

Plenty of covers, cables etc at www.monoprice.com . Got all of our mounting and cables there, great prices.

I also recommend monoprice.com. Great prices on wall mounts, cables, and anything you might need for your tv and it is high quality stuff.

I would add grocery stores, drug stores, radio shack, ...... I think though the question of where to get the covers really depends on where you live. It is a common part.

If you didn't want to drill into the wall and fish the wires through, you could go with one of those 'U' channel type things they sell at LowesDepot that are for hiding wires, or run a moulding up the inside of the wall.

Or, you could always get a fake plant (tree) and run the wires up behind that. ;)

I have used paintable wire channels that look really nice and are easy to use. There is a peice that screws into the wall that has clips on it to hold all of your wires....then a top cover snaps on top of that to cover everything. It has corner pieces to make 90 degree angles as well.
