most municipalities have facilities where you can drop off a certain amount for free. in austin, it's 30 gal. search 'gasoline disposal' for your city/town.

OK, the law mower test worked. After mowing my lawn a few times the mower barely runs now. I guess this means the 2.5 year old gas is bad. Good thing I didn't use it in the boat!

I put lots of fuel stabilizer in it last time I filled up.

My Honda lawn mower is still running on 25:1 mixed that's 3 years old now. Must be seafoam and the Quicksilver 2 stroke oil keeping it alive. I've still got 10 gals left but I'm taking it to the hazmat site this weekend. The way the Honda burns gas it'll take another 5 years to get rid of it all. I don't think it will last that long.

... I think the 50:1 I mixed for my weed eater is as old as the weed eater is Gotta' be a 4 years old now.

Sorry the gas didn't work out cptnmcluvin. Glad it was in the mower though. It'd have been tough turning the boat upside down and shaking all of the gas out of the tank.

I am a little confused here. Are we talking about 30 gallons of mixed gas with oil or just straight gas.
Just put in a 50/50 mix of high test gas. oh do the regular gas filter change.

Mother in law just sold a 90 Dodge with 22,000 miles, gas has been sitting for 5-6 years.
Started right up and ran fine.

Dump some octane boost andstabilizer in it. If you have a water separator filter and fuel filter have a spare on hand. Fill t up with fresh gas and kep your tank full for the first few tanks of the year and it will be fine.

Woah, woah, woah! We need some Minnesota representation here. Sorry, I just got back from ice fishing on the last floating piece of ice on the lake.

Yup, we've got the non-oxy gas here which will last much longer untreated. As for the OP's gas, no matter what at 2 years and stabilized I wouldn't worry too much about it. Fire up the motor and see how it runs. If no problems then run the tank down most of the way and replace with fresh gas

Be very careful if you drain the old gas into an open container and you have pets. I had some old gas awhile back so I drained it into a bucket and set it down beside the boat. My dog came over and lapped up some of it before I ran him off. He took off as if his butt was on fire and tore through the yard at about a hundred miles per hour, zipping around in circles and jumping over lawn chairs. He had done this for about 10 minutes as the wife came out to the porch to observe this crazy behavior and I told her what happened. Then, at quick as the dog started, he stopped and fell over. My wife exclaimed, “What happened?”

I said, “He probably ran outta gas.”
