Correct size and decent bindings. Do a search in this forum, many many people have been in the same boat (excuse the pun) as you.

Good luck.

get molded fins, theyre a must. I recently switched to molded fins and you will enjoy the 'looseness' after a single outting (much more forgiving when you slightly screw up a trick)

Also, get a three stage rocker or a hybrid. They say theyre for advanced riders but i take beginners out all the time and they like the 3 stage better then my continuous even their first time out.

I second that 3 stage suggestion the continuous to me feels sluggish and heavy

this is old but figure i will give my two cents.

Any new board should be a big improvement depending on how old your board is.

If there is one thing to get its a variable edge, this is what give you the (forgiveness) and most new boards will have this.

-molded or non molded fins will be the same if they are in the same spot, the only arguable difference is durability. And obviously removing them, completely.

Bindings are the same anything should be an improvement.

I say anything, but go with a recognized board brand ie ( liquid force, hyperlite, ronix, gator) Also get a package deal board binding combo, you can get a really good bang for buck at around 300 bucks.

if you live by a local board shop I am sure someone knowledgeable can help you pick a great setup.
