what to seal up the trolling motor with?????

evining fellas.......<br />i replaced the brushes in my motorguide brute.<br />i have new o-rings,the question is....should i use <br />some sort of sillicone on the end caps?<br />any help would be great...<br />thanks<br />j.w

If you have new O-Rings and you clean the end caps very good you do not need anything else.

jw....reelman is right. But usually I will coat the o'rings with a light gasket sealing compound. Just a little insurance and I ain't had one come back yet.

When fitting o-rings make sure surfaces are perfectly clean.You csn use some silicone spray or thin vaseline (petroleum jelly??) on the o-rings.Just slide them through your fingers with some vaseline on.This will help the o-ring to "conform?" better and gives it some extra protection against air.I always use some thin vaseline on o-rings when assemblying devices.<br /><br />regards james<br />norwegian marine engineer
