Re: What to use Filling Mahogany Wood Holes

Hi, John.

I wouldn't use a resin product to fill holes in wood, mahogany or any other.

Though strong and stable (as well as gorgeous), mahogany will rot as fast as any wood and must be kept dry. Being wood, it will also change dimensions and flex with strain, temperature and humidity. Resin products will not do so in the same degree and will work loose.

I suggest that you drill the holes out to exact dimensions, plug them with mahogany plugs (not dowels) and a good, waterproof glue. Then seal the works with quality spar varnish.

Good luck. :)
