what to use to seal holes from adding fish finder

I have read through the forums and could not find the answer I am looking for.
I have added a depth/fish finder, after drilling the holes I filled the holes with 100% silicon thinking that was fine.

I am wondering if I should have used epoxy in the hole instead of silicon? or even marine silicon adhisive?

any suggestions on how to properly fill these holes so they are water tight would be helpful.

If you are ever going to remove the wires use 3m4200 If you use epoxy you will never remove the wires w/o drilling and the same if you use 3m5200

100% silicone will fail

I am not worried about the wires because if I have to change my transducer i will just drill it out. Does that apply to the screws for the transducer?
I am going to get a swim platform for the boat and I will be making new holes for the supports.

I read in an old marine book to drill the holes slightly larger than required and fill the hole with epoxy then drill and tap. Problem is where I drilled the holes for my transducer there was nothing on the other side mind you i didn't drill that deep.

I just went to my local marine repair shop and they gave me this stuff made by BoatLIFE it is a Marine Silicone Rubber (boatlife.com), I will go out and get the 3m4200 if it is better or if I can find it here.

I just want to be very sure it is not going to leak

I have a piece of starboard that my transducer will screw into. That piece will get 5200'd onto the back of the boat including screws as I don't want it ever coming off.

the holes that the wires go through wll get 4200'd as I may want to remove them someday.

I'd stick with the 4200/5200 combo as it is proven. Canadian Tire or any boating store will have it.
