You won't get the speed you want without cleaning the hull. Clean the hull and test it again. I am betting that you will want that 23p prop after everything is running right. :)

Tach is wrong . . . ;) The range for your engine should be 4400 - 4800

That year model they sold two 4 Barrel 4.3s. 1 rated 180 hp and the other 205 hp.

Re: What top speed should my celebrity have?

Also by myself this weekend i was able to get her to 5800 rpms which is max for my motor. I had to ease up on the throttle sometimes cause it went as high as 6200. But despite the increase in rpms speed did not increase between 5800 and 6200.

This Don't sound right!? 5800-6200rpm!? Either your tach is off, or your prop hub, or engine coupler is Slipping!

Re: What top speed should my celebrity have?

I checked the gear ratio on the out drive, its a 1.84. I'm getting around 40 mph top speed with just me in the boat. The hull is clean now. The main problem is i have horrible acceleration, takes very long time to get on plane. I was thinking about taking off the hydrofoil on the outdrive to see if it makes a difference, because the transom is not flat, maybe the hydrofoil messes with how its supposed to plane out.

Do you think my 14.25 x 21p, aluminum 3 blade prop should be changed? I could sacrifice some top speed for more acceleration.
