My dad (who's working on his engine) says he thinks it has points and condenser like this 1980 Chrysler:
Looking at his picture again, I think he's right.

Chrysler/Force 45, 50 and 55Hp have had different ignition systems through the years.
In mid 70:es Chrysler had magnito, battery and CD systems at these engines.
The early CD systems was battery driven systems, no self energnized from magnets in the flywheel.
When Chrysler sold the OB business and US Marine bought it and branded it Force, the Prestolite CDI system was used at all the range of OB.s. This was in about 1984-85.
They had one, two and three CDI boxes (with two channels) depending how many cylinder the engine had.
The 50Hp Force in 1987-89 had two CDI different systems.
The pics and video you are showing, the engines has battery ignition system.

In the video, the motor has points and condenser under the flywheel. I'm guessing my dad's 1985 50hp (in the picture) is also points.

My 87 Force 50 has CDI ignition with triggers under the flywheel.

Yes, both engines in the pics has battery ignition system.
Points and condensers under the flywheel and the ignition coils mounted at the block.
Magneto system has everything under the flywheel.
Coils, condensers and points.
