I have a seat on my boat that goes across two coolers. Over the years as the ice melted the water evaporated into the wood and it has rotted out the bottom of the seat. Which type of wood or way do people recommend repairing it. I am thinking of treated wood and covering it with thick mil plastic. I also thought of treated wood and using laquer to seal it and again wrapping with thick mil plastic.

regular ext. grade plywood with 3-4 coats of epoxy would be the best method but also the most expensive. I'd prolly use the ext. grade plywood but seal it with this.

It'll last for a lot of years ands save you a few bucks.

Perfect application for starboard. Look up King plastics. Expensive, about $20/sq.ft Will last forever.
