What type/size battery do you recommend?

I'm sure there is a thread somewhere about this, but I couldn't find it.
I need to buy a new battery for the boat. I want to be able to use electronics with engine shut down for a while (hour or two) without having to worry about the battery. Do I need a deep cycle and what CCA would you recommend?
(Single battery set up for now)

A group size 27 "Dual Purpose" should work fine. Dual purpose means it serves as a starting battery and a deep cycle. For your use I would definitely NOT recommend a standard "starting battery".

Just picked up a dual purpose Interstate Battery yesterday. 600CCA and 160 minutes reserve when drawing 25 amps. 99.95. Love it.

Thank you all. I will see where I can get an Interstate around here. I didn't know they made dual purpose one's. You guys are awesome. Pick her up this morning!
Thanks again.

I ended up with a 27 series Energizer from Sams club. I believe it was like 860 mca, 180 min reserve. I like that the mfg date (3/11) was on it. You usually never know how long it was sitting on the shelf. I paid 70 deer for it.

I bought a Group 27 Interstate Deepo Cycle Marine battery at Dunhams (sporting goods store in Michigan) last week for $72 net, plus tax.

Selling price on the shelf was $90, less a 20% off coupon that should always be available somewhere for Dunhams. I got one by registering at their web site. When I checked out, I got another 20% off coupon with my receipt. Seems like SOP for them, kind of like Kohl's coupons.

Haven't had a chance to install and use the batterey yet. Think it was dated March 2011. Brought it home and topped it off, it was pretty well charged.

Best, Michael
