First boat was 1976 Chrysler Courier 154 bowrider, with a 75hp Chrysler Outboard, had boat for 9 years, sold it and bought a Baja, The guy that bought the Chrysler hit a huge shoal and totalled the boat.

Re: What was your first boat.

I had a 1971 Phantom 16 ft. boat with a 1971 '70 horse Chrysler outboard. I still have it if anyone wants it for free. It is a hull only as far as the boat goes, the motor is shot and the trailor is in good working order. I'm not selling it, but giving it away. I hope I don't get in trouble for posting it here but hey I don't want to see the thing rot away. The transom is now bulletproof. I needs interior, seats, all that stuff. Free for the taking.

Chryslers must have been popular in the 70s'.

First boat was a 1974 15ft stylecraft with a 90hp...you guessed it - chrysler. Piston went south about 10 years ago, sold it to a scrap yard :(

Aldo

It was some kind of a Spanish galleon, three masts, a couple dozen cannons, etc. It came in a box and I had a hell of a time with all those plastic parts and the tube of model glue. Don’t know what happened to it, probably packed it full of firecrackers and blew the snot out of it. :)

I had an 8' Chris Craft pram. Made a console and steering wheel in 8th grade Wood Shop . Put a 5hp Chris Craft Challenger on it, named it "The Beast" and had a lot of fun with it.

My first boat was a 1959 red and white 14' Live Oak plywood boat with a 25 Evinrude. Man I musta waterskiied a zillion miles behind that thing. It got stolen and stripped before it was recovered. I replaced the steering and motor with a 30 Evinrude Lark and skiied it another million miles before I sold it to a friend.

Mine was an old leaky 8' plywood pram. I don't remember what happened to it but do remember how much fun it was...almost 50 yrs ago.

My first boat was a 14' fiberglass something with a 3.6 hp firestone outboard. I paid $20 for the boat and motor (needed head gasket)and that was about 26-27 years ago. I sold the boat for $20 and still have the motor.

First boat was an 8ft aluminum john boat with oars. I was about 11 when I got it. It survived a few huricanes (the wood seats got ripped out). Spent many hours in Brigantine NJ sitting in that thing.

1986 Glasstream 16' open bow. OMC Cobra. No trim indicator, or depth sounder. Bought used, kept it a year and bought a new Rinker 212. THe GS was ok, just slow as molasses, and narrow.

Re: What was your first boat.

First boat was a homemade wooden john type boat.
Designed & built by my father & uncle. I helped paint.
It weighed a ton & I could take it anywhere on the river I wanted. The only propulsion was paddle, pole & pulling. I learned not to go any farther than I felt like coming back.
I spent a lot of summers messing around, fishing & swimming with it.
I was just thinking about that boat (the "Edwardo") the other day and what happened to it. I guess it was turned into firewood at some point.

Re: What was your first boat.

Our first boat was a 1965 Texas Maid, 19' I think. It had a little chevy 4 cyl. I/O. We bought it in 1991 for $800.00. It had been used to drag a bait shrimp net and was in pretty rough shape. I spent about 2 months getting it ready for our maiden voyage. I sure could have used iboats back then.

We used the boat a total of 2 weekends before we sold it to a guy who was buying it for his son who was returning from the Gulf War. The story of those 2 outings was very funny. I'll see if I can find it in the archives.

First boat was a 12' clinker built dinghy, dad built her when I was 4 years old and she was stolen when I was 23 years old.
Dad was a shipwright and she needed little more than the three yearly paint to keep her running true. Three sets of rowing positions and we took her our alone once over the age of 11 years. 4 miles we rowed to the regular fishing spot!
Ross

An 11' homemade wooden sailboat I bought from a friend in 1970 for $100. Put a coat of paint on it and sold it for $200 3 months later. Got some sense and bought a 15'er with a 33 Johnny on the back and the climb to the "bigger is better" began.

Re: What was your first boat.

Back in the early 1970's, my father bought a 1960's style 15' fibreglass runabout with a 40hp Evinrude. I learnt to water-ski behind that boat, not to mention all the other joys of boating... ...been "hooked" more or less ever since.
