I bought an Eska 7hp at a yard sale last summer. It's in nearly mint condition with even the prop wearing almost all its original paint. Problem is it only ran for about 1/2 hour before quitting--no spark. Looks to be the dreaded solid-state ignition module. My plan was to retire my old Game Fisher 7.5 that's all chipped, scratched and corroded...and has a throttle control on the power head, with the Eska that has the tiller throttle.
I believe these 2 motors are nearly identical. Should I take the ignition plate off the running Sears and put it on the Eska? I have to be honest and say that one thing I like about my ugly Sears is I don't worry much about theft or handling it gently...
