I don't think I'm buying this engine but I'm curious about what anybody thinks a reasonable price would be;
for a '72 50hp Evinrude electric shift that needs a new prop, carb rebuild, lower unit cleaning/grinding/smoothing, and impeller change.
Also, it has no control box/wiring harness.

If the owner doesn't offer to give it to you just to unload it... walk away from it.

If I had another '72 Rude 50 that needed some parts I might give him $25 to $50 for it. Otherwise I agree with Joe.

Check and see what the local price is on recycled mixed metals, that minus the cost of fuel to take it to the recycler is what it's worth.

Yea, I'm sorry to say, I'm with the rest of these guys here. Electric shift is the biggest kicker and the fact that it doesn't have controls. OUCH!! If he gives it to you, then You may be able to part it out on ebay and get something for your trouble.

No need to run because I wouldn't even give it a 1st thought.

Though I did see one of these listed as running good on CL the other day and the guy wanted $1000.00 for it!

Re: What would you pay?

I don't know how much space you have for parts storage prior to selling, but the other day I asked a guy on CL if he would sell a motor with a blown piston...he said no, it was worth way too much parting out! and its true...I bought an Evinrude 150 Intruder for $200 a while back...thinking id keep it for parts on a future motor purchase..but have changed my mind and am now going to try and sell just the LOWER UNIT for $500. the TNT should be worth $300 easily... the carbs $100, the stator $75, the starter $50 the power pack $50 and on and on..so with that in mind, and THINKING that the power head parts are probably similar to non electric shift motors.....that motor might be worth something...........bob
