Looking at buying a 25 hp Evinrude. Serial # is 25002C E06395. Anyone know what year this is and what fuel mixture it uses? This motor was used for 2 or 3 seasons and has been in storage for the last 30 years. Anyone know a market value? Thanks!

1970 50:1 Mixture 1 Pint TCW-3 oil to 6 Gallons gas

EDIT: No real value right now unless you can get it running. You might be able to part it out on E-Bay if you don't want to fool with it. Even running good, it's probably worth only a few hundred bucks.

Your motor is a 1972 model. As for value, it depends on where you live and if the fish are biting. 25hp motors are popular and are allways in demand. To me a good running 25hp is priceless. I would concider myself lucky to get $500. for an older model though. What ever price you pay, you will need to figure another $200. for a tune and service before you even think of taking to water.

Hi Alcan,
I agree with what you say, but I still come up with a 1970 model. Am I missing the mark here? They are good motors, but sitting for 30 years might take more work than it's worth. Depends on how bad you want it, I guess..

Seems to be some differing opinions on the year. Motor started on about the 4th pull. We just ran it at idle for a few seconds to make sure gears ran in forward and reverse. Didn't want to suck up pieces of old impeller. Is $400 too much to pay? Local dealer quotes impeller at $60 and waterpump kit at $120 parts and labor.

Check the compression first. Look for even or close on both cylinders and at least 90 PSI before you buy it. What you are willing to pay is completly up to you. As was said, value is in the eye of the beholder. I would offer $350.00 and put the pump in myself for about $30.00. Did you check the lower unit lube? Look for milky looking fluid, which is a sign of water intrusion. Remember, this motor has sat for 30 years and seals tend to dry up without regular use. You will need to rebuild the carbs and water pump for sure. So use these as a bartering point. And be sure to check that lower unit fluid and compression...

BTW- I just checked 2 different sites and it is a 1970 model for sure...
