What year and hp is my johnson outboard

hello there,<br /><br />i am a newby so i hope i post this question in the right catagory, if not forgive me!<br /><br />i have a little problem.<br />i just bought a new johnson 20 hp short.<br />thats was what the owner told me (particular).<br />but the cap is painted over and the hp number is missing.<br />i went to http://www.marinshopen.se/ to look up the year of build of my motor but could not find any information on it.<br />the closest match was about an evinrude from 1972?<br /><br />can you guys help me out please<br />this are the numbers i found :<br />20202R<br />B30570<br /><br />thanks in advance,<br />jan

hello bear,<br /><br />thanks for your reply.<br />the problem is that the serialplate on the motor is missing.<br />i called a johnson dealer he told me to look under the cap and look for a little round metal plate on the cilinderblock.<br />there i found this numbers.<br />i guess that the model number is on the missing serial plate?<br />is there another way to find out?<br /><br />thanks,<br />Jan

Hi bear,<br /><br />i do not have any picture from the motor and i have no camera to make one of it.<br />and also i can not find a picture from it on the internet.<br />also a prob is that the cap is painted over so nothing is original anymore(saw that today).<br />i have the feeling this motor is a little hot.<br />the cap is painted over serial is missing, well 1+1 = <br /><br />i contacted the guy from where i bought the motor and he told me he bought it in a watersport centre.<br />for as far i can see i think he is not lying.<br />the motor is fine and i think i will stop the search and take it for what.<br /><br />thanks for yer help and time,<br />Jan
