Hey guys, I tried to find this on my own in the FAQ section. I dont know if these are the right numbers. I found this evinrude in my Mother-in-laws garage tonight. She said it belonged to Father and she thought it was old. There is another one beside it, but it has no markings and is very old. I'll get its numbers later. The evinrude is in mint cond, it dosent look like its ever been run. It's just sitting on a saw horse covered with cob-webs. It has a lever for a tiller and I believe the throttle is on the cover(just below it) These are the only numbers I could find, they were on the silver plate on port side. 4006E E03869. It also had "Lightwin" by the throttle. Thanks for your help. Rudy.

Hey Rudy.....

I found two engines with 4006 Model numbers. One is a 1934 2.2 horse and the other is a 1970 4hp. So I would think it's the 1970 4hp if it had Lightwin on it.

Re: What year and HP of this evinrude?

Would the 4006E be the model number? If it is,it looks like a 1970's 4hp. Can anybody confirm this? and tell me about this motor? I think it was used as a back-up or kicker motor on a sailboat that was only used 3 times in 25 years! I know its been it the garage for as long as I've been married (13 years). Cant wait to play with it. Thanks guys, Rudy.

Good little engines Rudy. But take some time to do some long overdue maint on it before firing it up. Carb overhaul, new impeller, spark plugs, gear lube.....there's a good FAQ on what to do. Take a look. It's at the top of the forums meanu. It's called "Awakening A Sleeping Engine".

Here's the link....

http://forums.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=000033
