What year engine is this, and whats needed for steering?

I am trying to find out what year, and what official hp this evinrude is. I am also trying to hook up steering and throttle controls, so any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I think its a 1997

This is the 1996 model paint scheme. Looks pretty close. Probably is a 1997 9.9 model you have

Unless the 1997 has the same paint scheme, you have a 1996. 9.9hp. It might require a remote control adapter kit. A dealer should be able to tell you what is needed.

There are no connections for steering or controls on that motor
