That's what I was thinking also how much water should be coming out of the engine . not be around a 9.5 in a long time . I have been around <br />my 40 hp merc. and it spits the water out.

Hello,<br /><br />Those 9.5's are great little motors, I have a 1969 also. The water will be like a spray mixed with exhaust coming out of the bypass hole at idle (on the back left-hand side of the engine). As the rpms increase, the water will exit as a steady stream. It is not easy to see, but you can reach your hand around and feel it.<br /><br />TE

i also have a few of these engine that i am very happy with 58BigTwin is right.but if you have any dought the water pump impellers are like 15 $ change it.and the lower unit oil if you just got the engine its a good start to so you know what you have.

its easy get a manual and do it yourself really you will save alot of money and learn your engine in the prosses
