Re: what year is my 50 hp force

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in 1978 Force was still called "Chrysler" -- it hadn't been sold to US Marine yet. Something seems askew here.

Is the engine white or black? Does the exhaust come out the prop hub, or from the cavitation plate? Does it have standard or electronic ignition?

These clues might help make a rough determination of its actual age.

Re: what year is my 50 hp force

Your engine is a 89. It has a Prestolite CD
Ignition system. The reason I know this is I have a 50 force that I'm trying to find used parts for without buying new parts the engine
just isn't worth it. My 50 force model is 507y8c. Both engines were made in the same plant. If you need any farther help I have the manuals.
