Hey yall! I just purchased a 50 hp merc from a guy that said it was a 1969, but he wasn't real sure. The engine reads Merc 500, Kiekhafer, Thunderbolt ignition and the serial number on it is 2627732. Also how do I meausre the shaft on it. It looks to be long shaft to me but I want to be positive.<br />You guys are probably thinking. "Why on earth would he buy it if he doesn't already know this?" But as soon as I heard and saw it running, I just had to have it. He just wanted it out of his way. So I went ahead and aleveated him of it.
