What year is my Merc?

[RiCk-E]

We've bought a fairly nice-looking 40HP Merc. Can't find any info on it other than the serial number which is 6085149. Could I get a year possibly, maybe some general info, and tell me if I got ripped off ($200)?

You could try this site...It's not english but you should be able to get through it. Maybe someone else will post an english language version. Or, try one of the translation sites.

http://www.marinshopen.se/

Good Luck,
BL...

OR. . .you might try the Engines and Motors Forum right here on the iBoats Bulletin Board. That's where you are likely to get the most help.

Good luck.

You are posting this question in the wrong forum. If you used your search function you would have gotten this link.
http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=010194
It is a 1982.

NADA gives market prices.

$200.00 is good price if the motor runs well.
