What year is my motor?

I have a 10HP Johnson, model number qd-22. Can you tell me the year?<br /><br />I've been shopping around for another motor and I see some have long shafts and others have short shafts. Is there an advantage/disadvantage of one over the other?<br /><br />Thanks

Ahoy, Radar.<br /><br />The advantages of short and long shafts are only apparent when you have a transom to fill.<br /><br />If it matches the transom, that is an advantage. If not, a disadvantage.
