I have just bought a sea drive serial# J291557 and Model# 983285 could any one help me with the horse power and the year it maybe I would like to get a repair manual but don't know what one to buy woth out the size and year Thanks Bob

is sea drive actualy a johnson motor with that weared mounting method. because the numbers I have dont match any thing I can find,

I did a search yesterday, and found nothing like those numbers. This was the source, which is usually an outstanding reference to model numbers on OMC engines:

As the ex owner of a sea drive I will tell you that you can probably buy parts for a Johnson of the same year. Our local Johnson/Evinrude dealer used to tell me parts weren't available for my sea drive all the time. I finally just quit asking for OMC Sea Drive parts and asked for 115 Johnson parts instead.

As for the HP I don't think they ever published an HP rateing. The 1.6 litre Crossflow V4 was somewhere between 110-120. It is basically the same motor as the 115 Johnson.

those numbers came off the engine mounting bracket, I opened the engine cover and found a new set of numbers on the little aluminum tag, 2BBXCTR and J0786136 and the cover also says 1.6 liter so I guess its a "1983" and you say Johnson 115HP are the same parts. Thanks Bob

I have 1984 Seadrive and got a manual on ebay it is ok but does not show everything mine was rebuilt before I got it so hard to say what the year of the head is. Johnson parts interchange as well as the motors themselves I have seen several on line with Johnson motors on them. They are not bad to work on I have had some trouble with mine but I doughty there is any 1984 motor out there you wouldn?t. Hope everything goes good for you.

It has been a lot of years since I got rid of mine but it was an 89. Anyway I at one time or another replaced most every part on that powerhead and always ordered the part for an 89 115 Johnson. Never had one of those parts that wasn't interchangable. From the lower cowling up they are the same engine.
