Hi,<br />Yes, Point Ed is correct but the exact year is determined (in Europe) by a year letter. For example I have a Yamaha F115 that has a year letter Q on the engine plate and that mean 2003. See www.marinshopen.se (then Modellguide, Yamaha) where You find the letter, it is the link (Se -->bild<--) about 10 rows from top of page.
My friendly Yamaha dealer has just confirmed that my outboard motor, which from its number 6H6 I had figured was made between 1983 and 1989 was actually made in 1987. If you want more details you will need to contact a Yamaha dealer (or one of the professionals on this forum could look up the precise number for you in the Yamaha database).
Checked the plate (www.marinshopen.se) and found an "H" in the lower right corner, which means it is a 1987 model. Thanks for the help.<br /><br />This site have a lot of models/years listed. Recommended.
