What year is the motor

Hey guys thanks so much for your help.

2 questions

1. I have a 70 HP mercury outboard oil injected sn# OB 310311 what year is this
2. the tack and speed does not work all wires hooked in back all but a black wire on bottom of tack, which also has jumper to speed.

This is an outstanding forum that will help you enormously, I'm sure. I know it has helped me!!

1. Look at the thread stickied to the top of this page titled "What year is my Mercury Outboard?" You will find the answer there.

2. If you are going to do much work on your outboard, you really need to invest in a manual. You can buy aftermarket one from one of the thread where you get the year model of your motor, or you can go to the front page of iboats and buy one. The BEST one to buy is the MERCURY manual for YOUR year model. It is much more detailed and specific. You can find them for between $60-$75. The aftermarket (like Clymer or Seloc) are btween $25-$40.

Once you find your year model out, there is probably someone on here that can answer your tachometer question.
