what year is this johson super sea horse

i have just bought this boat motor its a johnson electric 40 horse super sea horse can anyone tell me the year the number is i think 307770

Welcome dstepper!<br /><br />That's a casting number and of little use.<br /><br />Check for a name plate between the transom clamps, just up on top of the tilt/steering bracket. The model number should be stamped there.

That's a 1965 40hp. Fuel/oil mix is 50:1 (87 octane gas and TC-W3 outboard oil). If it's electric shift, you have to use OMC/BRP "Premium Blend" brand lower unit lube.<br />If there's anything else you would like to know, just ask. There's a number of 40hp J/E outboard owners here.
