hello all. new to the forum. i am trying to figure out the year of this motor. it is an evinrude 9.9 hp sportsman. serial number # 100248-07768. i think it is a late 70s model, but not sure. i want to have a mechanic look at it once i can get the money, he said he charges 55/hour. i think that is a fair price. i want to know if it is worth it. last year i tried to get the motor running, but had no luck. we had it on dry land and got it to crank for a minute. we shut it down and put it in the water and could not get it started. i let it rest for a day and bought some new plugs for it. changed the plugs and tried again. it wouldn't start, checked the plugs and they were dry. the motor looks old, but the engine underneath looks fine.
