I bought a Johnson 15HP recently but the model number has vanished from where it should be. All I have to go on is the serial number A7603869.

MikeyS
Melbourne, Australia

Look on the above the serial # and find the letter code.

INTRODUCES is used to decode.

I being 1 and continuing to S which is 0

the last letters of this code will give you the year.

You can post the code here

Re: What year is this motor?

Sorry 22WRF, I must be missing something. I can't find the model number (letter code) which I thought should be on a plate near the transom mount. The plate is there but the markings are no longer legible. Other than part numbers on castings, etc, the only distinguishing number is what I think is the serial number, on top of the motor in a silver disc (beneath the cowl). Is there anywhere else the letter code can be?
Thanks
MikeyS

Both the ser# and Model # are on the silver disc on the powerhead the top one is the model #

The numbers on the transom bracket match this number unless the power head was changed which is not un common.
