i inherited a johnson 9.9hp 50th aniversary series seahorse motor. i need to buy parts for it but don't know the year. The model number is 9R-72M. Can anyone help??? if so can you tell me what other motors i could swap parts with?

The 9.9hp did not come out until 1974. The 9.5hp was made from '64 to '73. The motor is a 9.5 and it was a great fishing motor in its day. Points, waterpumps, and carb kits are still readily available.
Ooops! My bad. I should have noticed that it is a 9R, not a 10R.<br /><br />Seahorse is correct, of course. Any parts interchangability would be with 9.5 JohnnyRudes of the late '60s.
