Three cylinder, 50 HP, old style cowling, OB226544. Owner says about 1997.

Hi Clanton,<br /><br />If you lose the "0" at the beginning, it appears to be a: 50HP B110789 - B239241 1987 3 cyl. Far cry from a 97', but does that seem about right??

Clanton,<br /><br />Most times with those Merc. numbers, you drop the "0" anyway to get the year, so don't worry about it( Unless you were led to believe it was 10 years newer). It is an 1987 Model. Somebody trying to pull your string? Hope Not! Maybe you all had a comunication breakdown, I hope...

Thanks for the replys.<br />I had all info second hand, looked at engine today, and checked serial number. Serial number is as posted and I would agree engine is 1987 after looking at engine. I have manuals that id Evinrude/Johnson and the Suz engines, but can never id the mercs, and I probley have a service manual for the Merc. Thanks again.<br /><br />Clanton

Hey, Clanton.<br />If you've got a NAPA close by that you do bidness with, get them to get you a NAPA Marine Parts book. It's got almost all engine year models listed as "Reference". Pretty good source of info.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty
