What Year: Mercury 500 Thunder Bolt 50 Hp

[Serialization]

I have mercury 500 thunderbolt and 14406624 is my best guess on the serial number.

Im not sure on the year. I think its a 1977. Could anyone help me on this one?



Also if anyone knew where i could get some info on the motor. (manual or anything)

You have one to many digits in your number

thats what i thought too.

So i took the 1 out and came up with 1976 but do you know where it should be located? I found that number on the transom clamp (sorry if im not using the right words haha) along with i wanna say 4 different sets of numbers.

Should be on a plate on the top of the transom clamp, very close to the cowl. I had a 73 Merc 500 50 hp, had a blue stripe/band on the cowl.
