What year Mercury is this ?

Just bought a used 7.5 hp Mercury was told it was a 1974 SN 4555696
From what I can see its a 1976 from serial number ?

I also need info. on slowing the idle down a touch , I have it on a 14 ft alum. boat and it is to fast at idle for trolling I see a spring loaded screw on the carb and think that's the low speed idle mixture screw but believe there should be a adjustment some place to adjust idle speed?

The motor is a 1976 and the screw on the carb is the idle jet for the carb mixture adjustment. The idle speed adjustment is done in the linkage adjustment on those motors. A manual for the motor will have the How Too's as for setting the linkage up correctly, and should be a must have, if you are going to be working on it as there are several things that should be done to get the setting right.
